I remember as a child gathering a pitcher of water, ice, sugar, and lemons for a lemonade stand to make a little extra change. For Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004), making lemonade became her legacy. She was diagnosed in 1998 at the age of two with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. At the age of four she decided to raise money to find a cure by setting up her front-yard lemonade stand. Alex sadly lost her struggle with cancer at the age of 8, on August 1, 2004, but her life and her life’s work continue to inspire people of all ages to squeeze lemons to make a change. In fact, more than $25 million has been raised towards fulfilling her dream of finding a cure for all children with cancer. The Painted Truffle supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fund.
